India’s Abhay Singh has been presented with the Arjuna Award, India’s second highest sporting honour, for services to squash in India.

Singh, 26, has been playing some of the best squash in recent seasons. On national team duty, Singh helped India to an Asian Games gold medal in Hangzhou, was a key part of the team that won a bronze medal at the SDAT WSF Squash World Cup in Chennai and led India’s men to a best ever fifth-place finish at last year’s WSF World Team Championships at Hong Kong Football Club. On the PSA Squash Tour, Singh picked up three titles in 2024 and reached the semi-finals of the Bronze-level ACE Malaysia Cup, while also capturing his second Indian National title.

Speaking after the award ceremony in New Delhi, Singh said: “I’m honoured to be conferred with the Arjuna Award – India’s second highest sporting honour – for my contribution to squash.

“It fills me with immense pride and I’m grateful to my team for letting me stand here today, it’s a collective effort over the years. This is the best moment of my career and I’d like to thank my family for their support since day one.

“A huge thanks to World Squash for hosting the WSF Squash World Cup in Chennai where a bronze medal finish was included as one of the events that helped me win this award.”
