Emma Raducanu was in Qatar and met David Beckham at the World Cup final between Argentina and France on Sunday evening.

The tennis star witnessed a pulsating final at the Lusail Iconic Stadium with Argentina prevailing over France on penalties after a wonderful 3-3 draw as Lionel Messi claimed his first World Cup.

She was one of many sports stars at the venue, including Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Raducanu also met with David Beckham, one of the ambassadors of the Qatar World Cup, who has been present at many fixtures over the last month.

Beckham posted a picture of the pair together on his Instagram story with the caption: “So good to see you. What a game,” after the final between Argentina and France came to an end.

Raducanu herself was active on Instagram during the final, posting a video of Messi lifting the trophy with the rest of his squad and resharing Beckham’s picture on her own story.

The tennis star has been in the Middle East lately, participating at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi, about an hour from Qatar.

There, she fell just short of winning the tournament as she lost to Tunisian star Ons Jabeur, and she also unveiled Sebastian Sachs as her new coach after her first full season on tour.

However, her new coach has only been appointed on a part-time basis with a decision on a full-time coach to come in 2023.

She said: “We are trialing until the end of the year and just seeing how it goes really.”
