Winning her first women’s open tennis title is another step forward for very talented 14-year-old Juliette Debrincat.
An up-and-coming star at Riddells Creek Tennis Club since the age of 10, Debrincat won the open title in the open zone series tournament, which concluded at the Bendigo Regional Tennis Centre on November 1.
The convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory in the final against Summer Jones was one of the highlights of the tournament held at the Bendigo Regional Tennis Centre.
Proficient on all surfaces, Debrincat attends Salesian College in Sunbury.
In October she was a member of the Victorian team that competed in the Australian Hardcourts Championships at West Beach in Adelaide.
Debrincat excelled at the Sports Association of Catholic Co-Education Secondary Schools tournament last month.
Rising quickly through Riddells Creek Tennis Club ranks to play in the A1 team, Debrincat is giving herself every opportunity to improve further in the sport.
“Tennis is fast becoming the sport of choice for women and girls and with players like Juliette coming up through the ranks, we know that the future looks very bright,” RDTC president Fiona Walker stated earlier this year.
