DENTON, Texas (Nov. 17, 2022) – The North Texas women’s tennis team added another solid member to its roster as Marina Adati has signed her National Letter of Intent to join the Mean Green in January of 2023.

 

Adati comes to UNT from Londrina, Brazil where she was one of the top junior players in the country. She boasts both a top-five ranking as a U-18 player in Brazil and a top-three ranking as a U-16 player.

 

“What initially called our attention about Marina is her positive body language when competing,” assistant coach Rodrigo De Almeida said. “She demonstrates a tremendous amount of fight and energy which is key for a successful college tennis career. We believe Marina will have a seamless transition with her outgoing personality and we will welcome her with open arms”

 

Most recently, Adati won the International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles junior title in Criciúma, Brazil and has won multiple national events throughout her junior career.

 

In 2022 alone, Adati has won titles in the CBT South Circuit 2 Stage in singles and doubles, the 18F Paraná Federation Cup in singles and the CBT Group 1 Uberlandia in both singles and doubles.

 

Adati will be eligible to play immediately for the Mean Green after enrollment in January.
